1. From Junction 27 of the M5 take the A361 to Barnstaple then follow the A361 signs for Ilfracombe. (We do not advise the use of the A399 signposted off the A361 at South Molton, except for arrivals on busy Fridays or Saturdays.) When you come to the first set of traffic lights in Ilfracombe, turn left into Wilder Road. After ¼ mile at the next set of traffic lights; go straight on along the Promenade into St James Place, at the end of this one way road, ½ mile from the last traffic lights, turn left, then left again a the Sandpiper pub into Capstone Road. The Avalon is on your right.

2. Please note the following: If you can find a parking space in the road please park there to unload. From the 1st October to 13th May there are NO restrictions in force even on double yellow lines on the hotel side of the road. From the 14th May to 30th September restrictions apply from 10am to 10pm, but loading is permitted. We are in a quiet cul-de-sac, so if there are no parking spaces, stop right outside our door, ring the door bell, unload and we will endeavour to sort out your parking for you, if possible either in front of the hotel, or in one of our very limited number of free reserved parking spaces. There is a fully refundable £10 cash deposit required for the free parking

3. If it’s a busy Friday or Saturday and you have taken the A399 or you have taken the scenic route via the A39 and the A399 through Combe Martin, then when you arrive at the first set of traffic lights in Ilfracombe - go straight on. Take the first junction on the right which is after about 700 yards/metres, it’s a downhill hairpin bend after the ‘Job Centre Plus’. Follow the road down taking a sharp left then right and then left to the junction at the bottom of the hill which is opposite the crazy golf course on the Promenade. At this junction turn right, pass the church into St. James Place - a one way road. At the end, turn left, then left again at the Sandpiper pub into Capstone Road. The Avalon Hotel is on your right.
